A 12-year-old girl has sustained serious injuries after falling off a train plying from Colombo to Batticaloa, it was reported.
According to Lankadeepa newspaper, the child had fallen off the train while attempting to wash her hands through the window.
The child who had sustained injuries to the head had been initially admitted to the Welikanada Hospital and had, thereafter, been transferred to the Polonnaruwa Hospital.
Investigations have revealed that the incident had occurred when the child was returning home after having visited relatives in Katupatha. (Newswire)
