Sources say that the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) faction, led by former President Maithripala Sirisena, has elected Minister Wijedasa Rajapakshe as acting Chairman of the party.
It is reported that the decision was taken during the party’s executive committee meeting held in Athul Kotte today (21)
Former President Sirisena has been prevented from functioning as the party chairman due to an interim injunction by the court.
Meanwhile, A tense situation has been reported opposite the SLFP headquarters at Darley Road, after a group trying to enter the party building were obstructed by police (NewsWire)
