In a move aimed at benefiting employees, the government has unveiled plans to raise the interest rate of the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) from the current 9% to 13%.
This decision comes following the exceptional investment performance of the fund. State Minister of Finance, Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, affirmed that measures are being implemented to ensure the payment of the increased interest rate for the EPF throughout the year 2023.
