SL-Indonesia trade agreement discussion in June

The second meeting of the Trade Negotiations Committee on the Preferential Trade Agreement between Sri Lanka and Indonesia is scheduled for June 2024.

According to the government, Cabinet approval was granted in July 2023 to initiate negotiations to enter into a Preferential Trade Agreement with Indonesia. 

Relevant official discussions were held between the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and the Deputy Minister of Trade Indonesia in March 2024. 

The first meeting of the Trade Negotiations Committee was held online on 03 and 04 April 2024.

During the meeting, the Negotiation Committee exchanged views on the areas of discussion methodology, relevant data sharing timeline, scope and coverage.

The two parties have agreed to hold the second meeting of the negotiation committee on 19 and 20 June 2024 in Colombo.

The Cabinet was briefed on the facts presented by the President regarding the progress achieved so far concerning the proposed Preferential Trade Agreement. (Newswire)
