- Journalist Kalani Kumarasinghe assumed duties as the Editor of Newswire on May 1st.
Kalani began her journalism career at the Daily Mirror in 2013 as a freelance journalist and sub-editor. She joined the Nation newspaper in 2015 as a journalist, where she also served as a senior news reporter and presenter at the TNL Radio Network. She returned to the Daily Mirror the following year to take on a full-time role as the newspaper’s Features Editor.
Kalani was among the 16 journalists chosen for the 2019 Asia Journalism Fellowship of the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore. During her time as a fellow, she researched and reported on youth focused public policy, ethnic relations and governance.
Kalani has extensive experience as a print and digital journalist, covering politics, social issues, culture, international relations, and sports.
She will be leading the Newswire editorial team as they prepare to expand their news coverage.
