Showers or thundershowers are expected in Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-western provinces, as well as Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle, and Matara districts, the Department of Meteorology said.
Fairly heavy showers above 50 mm are likely in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, and Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts.
Meanwhile the Meteorology Department has issued an Amber alert due to strong winds.
Strong winds of 50-60 kmph can be expected over Western slopes of the central hills, Northern, North-central, North-western provinces, Trincomalee, and Hambanthota districts due to the increased south-west monsoonal wind flow.
Elsewhere on the island, fairly strong winds of 30-40 kmph can be expected. (Newswire)
