President Ranil Wickremesinghe pledged to bring Netflix streaming services to Sri Lankan youth, stressing that a strong government is key to ensuring their happiness and economic stability.
He made these remarks responding to a question from a participant during the ‘Open Mic Night’ at Diyatha Uyana, Battaramulla, on Sunday.
The President, in turn, questioned the youth participants as to why Sri Lankan films have not been featured on global streaming services.
“I’ll get Netflix. But why can’t anyone put a Sri Lankan movie in there? Why not something like Squid Game?” President Wickremesinghe asked.
“It could be House of Cards, or you could even do Designated Survivor. Who was left in the end?” the President asked, referring to the American political thriller.
“When I look at the opposition, I’m considering suggesting Chariots of Fire to them,” he added. (Newswire)
