The 6th Club Officer Installation Ceremony of Kaduwela Toastmasters Club for the 2024-2025 term took place on the 25th of August 2024 at the Ronaya Hotel in Biyagama. This remarkable event, themed “Ascend Together,” marked a significant milestone in the club’s journey. The ceremony attracted numerous senior Toastmasters and distinguished guests, making it a truly unforgettable evening. The event not only celebrated new leadership but also embodied the spirit of unity and growth, reinforcing the club’s commitment to excellence as they continue their ascent together.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of DTM Ganga Fernando, District Director of District 82, Toastmasters International, who served as the Chief Guest. The keynote speaker for the evening was Dr. Tharindu Atapattu, Director / CEO of Swisstek Aluminium, who delivered an inspiring speech on communication and leadership. Dr. Tharindu highlighted the different elements of effective communication and emphasized that leadership is a choice—one that requires conscious effort and commitment. He urged the audience to choose leadership, stressing that it is a path that leads to personal and collective growth.
The program also saw the participation of other notable figures from District 82, including DTM Niroshan Nadarajah, Program Quality Director, DTM Bhathiya Hettiarachchi, Club Growth Director; and Chamodith Ranasinghe, District Public Relations Manager. Their presence added to the prestige of the event, underscoring the importance of the occasion for the Kaduwela Toastmasters Club.
The Officer Installation Ceremony was conducted by the Area Director of Area F2, Toastmaster Hemakantha Balasooriya. The ceremony witnessed the installation of Toastmaster Chamara Perera as the 6th President of Kaduwela Toastmasters Club. Joining him on the executive committee are Toastmaster Himash Amarathunga as Vice President Education, Toastmaster Sampath Perera as Vice President Membership, Toastmaster Vidura Madubhasha as Vice President Public Relations, Toastmaster Pushpika Mihiravi as Secretary, Toastmaster Naduni Rathnayake as Treasurer, and Toastmaster Ruwan Tharanga as Sergeant at Arms.
In his acceptance speech, President Chamara Perera reflected on his Toastmasters journey, emphasizing the importance of seizing small opportunities as stepping stones to success. He shared how his journey has been transformative, not only in enhancing his communication and leadership skills but also in shaping his vision for the club.
