At the first cabinet meeting under newly elected President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the cabinet approved funds for the upcoming Parliamentary elections as its first decision.
“A total of 5 billion rupees has been allocated, with an additional 6 billion rupees to come from the next national budget. The full cost of the election is estimated at 11 billion rupees,” Cabinet spokesman Minister Vijitha Herath said.
As the second decision, the cabinet decided to appoint a committee to review all facilities and privileges given to Parliament MPs and former Presidents. (Newswire)
