Dr. Ayesha Wickramasinghe, an expert in fashion design and product development, has been appointed as the Chairperson of the National Crafts Council.
The National Crafts Council, operating under the Ministry of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development plays a pivotal role in promoting and developing the local handicrafts sector. Industries Minister Sunil Handuneththi formally presented the appointment.
Dr. Wickramasinghe has served as a senior lecturer at the University of Moratuwa, specializing in fashion design and product development since 2006. She brings extensive professional experience in brand promotion and design from Sri Lanka, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
A past pupil of Southlands College, Galle, Dr. Wickramasinghe graduated with first-class honors in Fashion Design and Product Development from the University of Moratuwa. She also holds a postgraduate degree from the University of the Arts, London, and a doctorate from the University of the Visual and Performing Arts, Sri Lanka. (Newswire)
