Deputy Minister of Defence Arun Jayasekara says no suspicious individuals were found on the SriLankan Airlines flight from Chennai that was searched at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) today (3 May) following an alert related to the recent Kashmir terror attack.

Speaking to media, Jayasekara confirmed that while authorities received information from India prompting the security operation, the inspection of the aircraft did not reveal any suspects.

The alert concerned individuals allegedly linked to the Pahalgam terror attack in India, and security forces carried out a thorough search of Flight UL 122, which arrived from Chennai at 11:59 a.m. today.

SriLankan Airlines, in a statement, noted that the search was conducted in coordination with local authorities after receiving the alert from the Chennai Area Control Centre. The aircraft was later cleared, but the operation caused a delay to its next service, Flight UL 308 to Singapore. (Newswire)
