The National Election Commission has outlined the results process of the 2025 Local Government Elections, stating that the results will be announced under two categories.
Voting for the Local Government Elections was conducted from 07.00 am to 04.00 pm today at 13,759 polling stations to elect representatives for 339 Local Government institutions.
Speaking to the media, Commissioner General of Elections Saman Sri Ratnayake said that the votes will be counted at the respective polling centres after polling concludes.
He further said the winners will be announced first at the Divisional Level and thereafter, based on the Local Government Institution.
Saman Sri Ratnayake said the results will be announced once the respective District Returning Officers conclude their official duties in this regard. (Newswire)
