Former State Minister Prasanna Ranaweera has surrendered to the Mahara Magistrate’s Court after evading arrest over an illegal property sale case.
Ranaweera was wanted by the Criminal Investigations Department over allegedly selling a plot of state-owned land in Kiribathgoda to a private party by forging documents.
The court had previously issued warrants to seize the properties of Ranaweera and another suspect, both evading arrest.
However, Prasanna Ranaweera has surrendered to the court today after having evaded arrest for 61 days.
Meanwhile, former Minister Mervyn Silva and three others remain in remand custody after being arrested over the same case. (Newswire)
