Parliamentarian Dilith Jayaweera says his party, the Sarvajana Balaya, will not ally with any political party to seek a majority at Local Councils.
Addressing the media, Jayaweera, the leader of the Sarvajana Balaya, said the party has no reason to join hands with a party or force to be politically involved.
“Sarvajana Balaya is not ready to take any such decision. We are an independent party with a different political culture. We will not partner or support any other party,” he said.
MP Dilith Jayaweera also confirmed that the opposition Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) had contacted him, following the Local Government Elections.
The Saravajana Balaya received 294,681 votes, securing 266 seats in 07 local councils, in the 2025 Local Government Election, held on Tuesday (07 May). (Newswire)
