The Department of Meteorology forecasts showers or thundershowers in most parts of the island after 1:00 p.m. today, May 9. Morning showers are also expected in the Western Province and in Puttalam, Galle, and Matara districts.
Fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm is likely in some areas within the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Northern, and North-Central provinces.
The public is urged to take precautions against potential hazards such as temporary strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Misty conditions are expected during the morning in parts of the Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Uva provinces, as well as in Ampara and Polonnaruwa districts. (Newswire)
