Batting first, UAE’s openers put on a mammoth 192-run stand in just 16 overs. With rain threatening to cut the match short, UAE were keen to end their innings early. However, as declarations are not permitted in T20 internationals, UAE’s players resorted to an unusual workaround: each subsequent batter padded up, sprinted to the crease, and immediately retired out upon arrival, forcing a rapid end to the innings.
