The mother who was seen in a viral video earlier today protecting her baby while trapped inside the overturned bus in Kotmale has passed away, according to Newsfirst.
The 45-year-old woman’s final moments were captured in a heart-wrenching scene, as she clutched her 9-month-old child amid the wreckage. Despite the devastation, the infant was rescued and is currently being treated at the Nuwara Eliya Hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the accident, which has claimed 22 lives so far.
