The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) Chairman Dr. Tilak Siyambalapitiya has handed over his letter of resignation, which has been accepted by Power and Energy Minister, according to a CEB spokesman.
His resignation took effect on Friday, May 9, concluding a tenure that began on September 26, 2024.
Dr. Siyambalapitiya told the Morning newspaper he had agreed to serve as Chairman for a limited period at the request of the President and cited personal reasons for stepping down. “I have many family commitments. There are very capable professionals already in the CEB who will continue the work,” he said.
The Sunday Times reported that the resignation has been reportedly prompted by unnecessary interference of the political authority and the PUCSL regarding the cost-reflective tariff. (Newswire)
