Police say several unauthorized items were found in the possession of remanded former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella.
Rambukwella was remanded on May 7 over a bribery case and will remain in custody until May 20.
According to prison intelligence, the recovered items include an elephant pearl, several pieces of tree bark, and a miniature engraved Buddha statue.
When questioned, Rambukwella claimed the items were given to him by his father and that he was carrying them for his protection.
The items have been confiscated and to be sent to the Government Analyst’s Department for further investigation. (NewsWire)
