Japanese Ambassador Akio Isomata says Japan was a victim of corruption in Sri Lanka and stressed the need for transparency to attract foreign investment.
Speaking at a roundtable organized by the Pathfinder Foundation last week, Isomata reaffirmed Japan’s support for Sri Lanka’s development and welcomed the launch of the National Anti-Corruption Action Plan.
In March, the Ambassador held talks with the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption, with both parties agreeing to strengthen cooperation on anti-corruption efforts.
Japan recently signed a $2.5 billion debt restructuring deal with Sri Lanka, further cementing its position as a key development partner. (Newswire)
