A police officer attached to the Traffic Division of the Marawila Police Station was killed in a tragic road accident this morning while performing duties in the Marawila area.
According to police, the officer was struck by a car while inspecting a three-wheeler along with another officer. Both officers were on active duty at the time of the incident.
The deceased was identified as a 42-year-old resident of Kuliyapitiya.
The car involved in the accident was driven by a 22-year-old woman. She has been arrested in connection with the incident. Further investigations are underway. (Newswire).
