04 killed in four separate accidents reported on Thursday

Four persons were reported dead in four separate accidents reported in the Warakapola, Pamunugama, Horana, and Bulathsinhala areas on Thursday.

According to the Police, a 33-year-old resident of Alawwa has died after his motorcycle collided with a three-wheeler and then crashed into a utility pole in the Opatha area along the Wariyagoda- Nelumdeniya Road yesterday.

The motorcyclist had succumbed to injuries while being admitted to the Alawwa Hospital. The 18-year-old driver of the three-wheeler has been arrested in connection with the accident. 

Meanwhile, a 27-year-old woman from Colombo 13 was reported dead after sustaining injuries in a three-wheeler accident in the Uswetakeiyawa area along the Negombo- Elakanda Road yesterday. 

The Police said the three-wheeler driver had lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a utility pole, during which the driver, the female passenger, and her three-year-old son had sustained injuries.

The woman had succumbed to injuries after being admitted to the Ragama Hospital. The Pamunugama Police is conducting investigations. 

Furthermore, a 33-year-old resident of Horana has died after the motorcycle he was travelling in had collided with a double-cab plying in the opposite direction in the Narangala area on the Horana- Bulathsinhala Road.

The victim, who was travelling as the pillion rider, and the motorcyclist had sustained serious injuries and had been admitted to the Horana Hospital, where the pillion rider had succumbed to injuries. The motorcyclist has been transferred to the Colombo National Hospital for further treatment. 

The driver of the double-cab has been arrested in connection with the accident. The Horana Police is conducting further investigations. 

Finally, a 74-year-old woman from Bulathsinhala was reported dead after being knocked down by a motorcycle near the Bulathsinhala Hospital along the Mathugama- Bulathsinhala Road. 

The woman and the motorcyclist who had sustained serious injuries in the accident had been admitted to the Bulathsinhala Hospital, where the woman pedestrian had succumbed to injuries. 

The motorcyclist has been transferred to the Horana Hospital for further treatment. The Bulathsinhala Police is conducting further investigations. (Newswire)
