An individual has sustained gunshot injuries during a Police raid on an illicit liquor den in the Dodangoda area in Thelikada.
According to the Police, a raid had been conducted on the liquor den located near Gin Ganga yesterday, based on a tip-off.
During the raid, a 31-year-old man, among four intoxicated men at the site, had threatened and attempted to attack the Police team with a sword.
One Police Officer had retaliated by shooting the man below his knee for self-defence.
The injured man and a few Police officers who had also sustained injuries in the incident have been admitted to the Karapitiya Hospital.
The Thelikada Police are conducting investigations into the incident. (Newswire)
