A vehicle carrying Thusitha Halloluwa, former Director General of Public Relations to ex-President Ranil Wickremesinghe, came under gunfire in Narahenpita today police said.
Two unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle intercepted the vehicle and fired shots into the air and at the vehicle using a pistol-type weapon
Halloluwa was reportedly assaulted, and a confidential file in his possession was stolen during the attack, local media reported.
Attorney-at-Law Dinesh Dodangoda, who was also in the vehicle, sustained injuries in the incident.
The attack comes amidst an ongoing CID investigation into Halloluwavover an allegedly defamatory statement concerning President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. The complaint relates to his claim that the President made a major investment in Greece. (Newswire)
