Investigations into the shooting incident targeting Thusitha Halloluwa, former Director General of Public Relations to President Ranil Wickremesinghe, have been handed over to the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD).
Police Media Spokesman stated that the probe was transferred on the instructions of Acting IGP Priyantha Weerasuriya.
The shooting took place last night (17) in the Narahenpita area while Halloluwa was travelling in a car with his lawyer. Two gunmen on a motorcycle had reportedly followed the vehicle, initially firing shots into the air before opening fire at the front windshield once the car came to a stop.
Halloluwa said that he and his lawyer were assaulted by the attackers and were later admitted to the Colombo National Hospital for treatment. He has also claimed that the gunmen fled the scene with a file containing important documents from his vehicle. (Newswire)
