The Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government has begun efforts to address the uneven distribution of Development Officers across public institutions.
A circular issued by Director General of Combined Services N.U. Nishan Mendis noted that while some districts have an excess of officers, institutions in Colombo and Battaramulla face significant shortages.
The Ministry said the imbalance has affected the delivery of public services. Ministries and departments have been directed to reassign Development Officers to areas with staffing gaps based on service needs.
The circular instructed secretaries of ministries and department heads to submit updated information on vacant Development Officer posts and officers serving beyond approved district-level cadres.
Institutions have been asked to submit officer requests using Form CS/T/01, along with necessary recommendations, to facilitate the redistribution. Submissions should be sent to cs.dost2020@gmail.com (Newswire)
