Nagoda shooting : Three arrested for aiding crime

Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the shooting incident in Nagoda, Kalutara, on 04 May, where one individual was injured. 

Gunmen on a motorcycle had opened fire at an individual in front of a house on Gamsabha Housing Road and fled the area.

Investigations conducted by the Kalutara District Crimes Division had led to the arrest of three suspects in the Payagala area yesterday. 

The suspects were arrested on charges of having aided the shooting, while the Police had also seized an internationally manufactured revolver and a motorcycle used in the shooting.

According to the Police, the suspects, aged 27, 30, and 34 years, are residents of Payagala. 

Further interrogations of the suspects have found that the motorcycle used in the shooting had been stolen in the Payagala area and had been fitted with fake number plates for the crime.

Investigating officers have found two more motorcycles that had been stolen in the Payagala and Mathugama areas, as well as three mobile phones in the suspects’ possession. 

The Kalutara District Crimes Division is conducting further investigations. (Newswire)
