The Department of Meteorology has issued an advisory for severe lightning in the Uva province and the Batticaloa and Ampara districts today.
Per the advisory, effective until 11.00 pm today, amber alerts have been issued to 21 districts and red alerts have been issued to 04 districts.
As thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning are likely to occur during this period, the public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimise damage caused by lightning activity. (Newswire)
