Sri Lanka’s apparel exports saw a notable 15.14% year-on-year increase in April 2025, driven by higher demand from key markets, according to the Joint Apparel Association Forum (JAAF).
Exports to the EU (excluding the UK) surged by 27.04%, while the USA and UK markets grew by 6.83% and 7.45%, respectively. Shipments to other destinations also rose by 21.18%.
Cumulative exports for the January–April 2025 period reached USD 1.66 billion, up 12.4% from the same period in 2024. Growth was led by the EU (18.13%), the USA (10.06%), and other markets (13.56%), with the UK contributing a 6.26% increase.
JAAF said the performance underscores the resilience and global competitiveness of Sri Lanka’s apparel sector despite persistent international challenges. (Newswire)
