Three more suspects have been arrested in connection with the assault and shooting targeting the vehicle of former National Lotteries Board Director Thusitha Halloluwa in Narahenpita on 17 May.
According to the Police, the motorcyclist in the shooting and two other suspects who had aided the crime were arrested along with four mobile phones yesterday.
The arrested suspects are aged 31, 32, and 40, and are residents of Wattala and Colombo 14.
The group is to be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court today, while the Narahenpita Police is conducting further investigations.
Previously (25 May), three suspects, including a woman, were arrested over the assault and shooting, while they were remanded until 29th May by the Hulftsdorp Magistrate’s Court.
The shooting took place in the Narahenpita area while Halloluwa was travelling in a car with his lawyer. Two gunmen on a motorcycle had reportedly followed the vehicle, initially firing shots into the air before opening fire at the front windshield once the car came to a stop.
Following the incident, Halloluwa revealed that he and his lawyer were assaulted by the attackers and who then fled the scene with a file containing important documents, which was inside the vehicle. (Newswire)
