Three fishermen who were stranded on a dinghy boat marooned off the coast of Balapitiya due to rough seas have been rescued by the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF).
The SLAF said in a statement that a Bell 412 helicopter from the Air Force Base in Ratmalana was deployed for the rescue mission.
All three were successfully rescued, the SLAF added.
The SLAF further said the recuse mission was conducted on the directives of the Defence Secretary.
Sri Lanka is currently experiencing severe adverse weather conditions, with the Department of Meteorology warning the Naval and fishing communities not to venture out to sea due to rough seas and strong winds. (Newswire)
