Eagles’ Rugby Sevens powered by Janatha Steels kicks off on May 31

The Eagles’ Rugby Sevens, strengthened by Janatha Steels, will take place tomorrow, May 31, at Havelock Grounds starting at 8:30 a.m. Organized by the Old Antonians’ Rugby Football Club (OARFC) and Elite Ventures, the inter-school old boys’ rugby tournament will feature 13 teams representing top Sri Lankan rugby schools.

The event will also include a special Legends’ Exhibition Match between Kandy Legends and Colombo Legends. Matches will be broadcast live via Event TV (PEO TV), YouTube, and Facebook.

An after-party hosted by E FM is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.

Althaf Hameed, President of the OARFC said that the event will be a much needed fundraiser for junior rugby at St. Anthony’s College, Kandy.

“Supporting this event is not just an opportunity for us to give back to the sport of rugby, but also an opportunity to foster development,” Janatha Steels Chairman S. Vasudevan said, addressing the launch event.

Participating schools include Royal, Isipathana, Kingswood, St. Anthony’s, D.S. Senanayake, Mahanama, St. Peter’s, St. Benedict’s, St. Joseph’s, Wesley, St. Thomas’ Matale, Vidyartha and Zahira.
