A Sri Lankan delegation led by Deputy Minister of Labour Mahinda Jayasinghe left for Geneva, Switzerland today (June 1) to participate in the 113th session of the International Labour Conference.
Organized by the International Labour Organization (ILO), the conference will take place from June 2 to 12 and will focus on a wide range of issues related to the world of work.
Ministers, labour leaders, and trade union representatives from 187 countries are expected to attend the event.
Representing Sri Lanka, the delegation includes Deputy Minister Mahinda Jayasinghe, Labour Ministry Secretary S.M. Piyatissa, Commissioner General of Labour Nadeeka Wataliyadda, Senior Additional Secretary (Foreign Affairs) Mr. Wasanthan, as well as representatives from four trade unions and an employers’ association.
