The Election Commission of Sri Lanka has officially gazetted the names of the newly appointed mayors and deputy mayors of municipal councils across the country, following the recently concluded local government elections.
According to the gazette dated May 31, 2025, the following individuals have been appointed as mayors:
- Colombo District
* Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia: Killapanage Don Parakum Shantha (mayor), Vindana Edirisooriya (deputy mayor)
* Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte: Athapaththu Hewa Kankanamage Yudhishtira Arosha (mayor), Krishanthi Wijebandara (deputy)
* Kaduwela: Ranjan Jayalal Perera (mayor), Sreenith Jayagoda Arachchi (deputy)
* Moratuwa: Don Nishantha Ferdinando (mayor), Prabhashani Wickramasinghe (deputy)
- Gampaha District
* Negombo: Don Robert Heenkenda (mayor), Dulip Chamara Fernando (deputy)
* Gampaha: Eric Lakshman Ediriwickrama (mayor), Ramal Indrawansha Siriwardhana (deputy)
- Kandy District
* Kandy: Chandrasiri Wijayanayaka (mayor), Ruwan Kumara (deputy)
- Matale District
* Dambulla: Wasantha Kumara Rajamanthri (mayor), Susantha Batagoda (deputy)
- Matara District
* Matara: Jayantha Kumarasiri Serasinghe Pathiranage (mayor), Nishantha Wickramarathna (deputy)
- Ampara District
* Akkaraipattu: Atha Ulla Ahamathulebbe Maraikkar (mayor), Uwais Uthuma Lebbe (deputy)
- Polonnaruwa District
* Polonnaruwa: Lalith Thissa Kumara (mayor), Huseyin Mohammadu Munas (deputy)
- Badulla District
* Badulla: Nandana Kelumsiri Hapugoda (mayor), Wasantha Sujeewa Peiris (deputy)
- Anuradhapura District
* Anuradhapura: Nawarathna Raja Karunarathna (mayor), Seetha Herath (deputy)
- Kegalle District
* Kegalle: Nimal Karunarathna (mayor), Sanath Pathirana (deputy)
The gazette, issued under Section 66B(1) of the Local Authorities Elections Ordinance, also includes appointments of chairpersons and vice chairpersons of urban councils and pradeshiya sabhas across all districts.
