A 53-year-old man has been arrested by Haputale Police on charges of raping a 14-year-old girl and impregnating her.
The accused is a 53-year-old father of three, Police said.
The child was initially admitted to the Panketiya Hospital by her mother after complaining of abdominal pain and was later transferred to Diyatalawa Base Hospital.
Upon further testing, the child had been found to be five months pregnant.
Investigations had revealed that the girl had been raped at her own residence, while her parents were away at work. (Newswire)
