The Department of Meteorology has issued a weather advisory warning of strong winds over several parts of the island due to the strengthening of the southwest monsoonal wind flow.
According to the 5.30am update, wind speeds of 30-40 kmph can be expected at times, particularly over the western slopes of the Central Hills, and in the Northern, North-Central, and North-Western provinces. The Hambantota and Trincomalee districts are also likely to experience strong winds.
