According to opposition members, tensions escalated when National People’s Power (NPP) Parliamentarian Gayan Janaka, who attended the event, allegedly made inflammatory and derogatory remarks directed at them. The remarks reportedly led to a verbal confrontation, prompting opposition councillors to protest.
