The Cabinet has granted approval in principle to establish a new public-private partnership (PPP) unit, following a proposal by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
The move aligns with a commitment made during the 2025 Budget speech to introduce new legislation supporting investment promotion through PPPs.
The planned unit will operate under a formal legal framework and be headed by the Senior Additional Secretary to the President (Finance and Economic Affairs), within the Ministry of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development.
This new entity will replace the currently functioning National Agency for Public-Private Partnership. (Newswire)
