A student from the Kuliyapitiya Technical College was rescued by local residents after reportedly jumping into a lake following severe ragging.
The incident, which was caught on camera, led to the student being admitted to the Kuliyapitiya Hospital for treatment.
According to Police, the student revealed she had faced extreme and abusive ragging at the college, which prompted her actions.
An internal investigation has been launched by the institution, and four students have been arrested in connection with the incident.
The suspects will be produced before the Kuliyapitiya Magistrate’s Court on ragging-related charges. (Newswire)
