Treasury officials have expressed confidence that government revenue from vehicle imports could reach Rs. 450 billion by the end of 2025.
Speaking before the Parliamentary Committee on Public Finance, officials revealed that Rs. 136 billion in revenue had already been collected during the first five months of the year from vehicle imports alone.
They noted that Letters of Credit (LCS) worth USD 596 million have so far been opened for vehicle imports. If all related tax revenues are realized from these LCs, the total collection could exceed Rs. 300 billion, further strengthening the government’s confidence in achieving the Rs. 450 billion target with 7 more months left.
