The University of Kelaniya and the National Engineering Research and Development Centre (NERD) are set to launch a technology collaboration program aimed at supporting engineering research and manufacturing processes.
A preliminary meeting was recently held at the NERD Centre under the patronage of Science and Technology Minister Dr. Chrishantha Abeysena.
Officials from both institutions exchanged initial views and outlined areas for cooperation. During the event, NERD presented its Technology Incubation Centre, which includes CAD/CAM design tools and modern CNC machinery.
Under the proposed collaboration, the University of Kelaniya will have access to NERD’s human resources and technical facilities through its University Business Linkage (UBL) initiatives.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is expected to be signed in the near future to formalize the partnership. (Newswire)
