The Defence Ministry has strongly denied claims made in Parliament by MP Ramanathan Archuna that a stock of weapons belonging to former LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran was recently brought into the country through containers released by Customs.
Defence Secretary Retired Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyyakontha dismissed the statement as “completely baseless and false,” stating there is no evidence to support such allegations.
The Ministry reiterated that national security matters should not be politicised or misrepresented in public forums. (Newswire)
