SriLankan Airlines flight UL 306, which departed from Katunayake for Singapore on the evening of June 5, made an emergency landing at Kuala Namu International Airport in Medan, Indonesia, due to a technical malfunction.

According to flight tracking data from FlightAware, the aircraft diverted mid-flight and landed in Medan on the same night.

An Indonesian technical team inspected the aircraft and informed SriLankan Airlines that repairs would require additional time. A technical team from Sri Lanka departed for Jakarta early on June 6 and arrived in Medan to assess and repair the aircraft.

SriLankan Airlines scheduled a separate flight to depart at 1:45 p.m. local time on June 6 to transport the stranded passengers to their destination.

Stranded passengers have complained about prolonged waiting periods, limited facilities, and a lack of clear communication at the airport. (Newswire)
