Deputy Minister of Transport and Highways Prasanna Gunasena inspected the Port Access Elevated Highway project on Friday.
Gunasena was accompanied by Road Development Authority Director General K. W. Kandambi, representatives from the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, and Transport Ministry officials.
The project began in 2019 with funding of US$300 million from the Asian Development Bank. It experienced delays during Sri Lanka’s economic crisis but has now entered its final construction phase.
Gunasena said the highway is scheduled to be completed and opened to the public by March 2026. (Newswire)
