WhatsApp is preparing to introduce a new feature designed to help users manage their phone storage more efficiently. With media sharing on the rise—particularly in group chats—many users struggle with limited space due to the automatic download of high-resolution photos and videos.
To address this, WhatsApp is developing a ‘Download Quality’ option that will let users choose the resolution of media files before they are downloaded. This feature, spotted in the beta version 2.25.18.11 for Android by WABetaInfo, gives users the choice between HD and SD quality.
According to a shared screenshot, the feature can be accessed via Settings > Storage and Data > Auto-Download Quality, where users will be able to select their preferred media quality. This move is expected to provide greater control over storage use, especially for those receiving large volumes of media daily.
The new feature is currently only accessible to beta testers who have downloaded the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.18.11 update from the Google Play Store, WABetaInfo reported.(Newswire)
