Tilvin Silva in China leading JVP delegation including MPs

JVP General Secretary Tilvin Silva has met with Liu Jie, Governor of China’s Zhejiang Province, during an official visit to China on the invitation of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

The meeting was held yesterday (9) at the main public reception hall of Zhejiang Province. Silva is currently in China leading a delegation representing the JVP, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen ties between the JVP and the CPC.

Discussions focused on the longstanding friendship between Sri Lanka and China, as well as the relationship between the JVP and the Communist Party of China. Both sides also explored opportunities for support from Zhejiang Province to help Sri Lanka’s economic recovery.

Silva noted that Sri Lanka is moving forward with a clear development plan under the leadership of the National People’s Power (NPP) government, aiming to rebuild the economy and end decades of corrupt governance. He also expressed hope of learning from China’s development experiences, particularly those of Zhejiang Province.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister of Youth Affairs Eranga Gunasekara, Deputy Minister Muneer Mulafer, MPs M. Jegadeeswaran, Deepti Wasalathilake, and Dharmapriya Wijesinghe, along with other members of the delegation. From the Chinese side, Deputy Governor Lu Shan and senior CPC officials, including Pan Xubin from the CPC’s International Department, South Asia Division, participated in the discussions. (Newswire)
