The showery condition is expected to enhance in the southwestern part of Sri Lanka from today (10 June), due to the effect of the active southwest monsoon condition, according to the Department of Meteorology.
Per the weather forecast issued for tomorrow, showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Northwestern provinces and the Galle and Matara districts.
Heavy falls of about 100 mm are likely at some places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and the Nuwara-Eliya, Kandy, Galle and Matara districts.
Several spells of showers may occur in the Northern province and the Anuradhapura and Hambantota districts.
Strong winds of about 50 kmph can be expected at times over the Western slopes of the central hills and the Northern, North-central, Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-western and Southern provinces and the Trincomalee district.
The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers. (Newswire)
