JVP visits Wuxu Village in China for rural development insights

A delegation led by JVP General Secretary Tilvin Silva visited Wuxu Village in China’s Daxing District and met officials from Huzhou city and the Communist Party of China, as part of an ongoing official tour.

The Sri Lankan team, invited by the Communist Party of China, visited a Geographic Information Centre and a wet wipes manufacturing factory. Discussions focused on waste management innovations and the vital role of women in rural development.

Tilvin Silva highlighted that Wuxu Village’s development model, built on discipline and sustainable practices, offers valuable lessons for Sri Lanka’s rural progress. He also noted the village’s adherence to Chinese government guidelines on limiting chemical use in agriculture.

The delegation included Deputy Minister of Youth Affairs Eranga Gunasekara and Deputy Minister of National Unity Muneer Mulafer. Chinese officials including the Deputy Mayor of Huzhou and party leaders from Wuxu participated in the visit. (Newswire)
