Health Minister opens Hospital Ward built with Devalaya Donations

A new ward complex at the Kataragama District Hospital, constructed at a cost of Rs. 33 million using donations from devotees to the Ruhunu Kataragama Maha Devalaya, was officially opened yesterday (12).

Health Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa attended as the chief guest, joined by Deputy Minister of Food Security and Consumer Affairs R.M. Jayawardena and Basnayake Nilame of the Devalaya, Dilshan Gunasekara.

The new facility includes 47 general beds, maternity wards, a modern sanitation system, a delivery room, and staff accommodation, significantly enhancing healthcare services in the area.

Minister Jayatissa appreciated the support from the religious institution, stating it reflects the deep connection between faith and community welfare. (Newswire)
