Tamil Progressive Alliance (TPA) Leader MP Mano Ganesan has accused the National People’s Power (NPP) of allegedly gaining control of the Haldumulla Pradeshiya Sabha through covert political maneuvers, including offering bribes to local councillors.
Ganesan said two TPA members who voted in favour of an NPP-nominated candidate during the recent vote are facing disciplinary action.
He claimed that councillors were offered monetary incentives to support the NPP’s efforts to secure power in the local council.
“Is this the system change they’re talking of? Have they no shame?” Ganesan questioned.
He further criticized the NPP for allegedly trying to replicate such political behaviour in Colombo, urging the party to maintain transparency and respect democratic processes. (Newswire)
